Did someone say books, oooh yeah. Let's talk, let's talk. One of my crazy friends said if you ever need to read a book full of action, war, espionage, bravery, love, poetry & the whole enchilada, read the bible. I know right, crazy but true, David & Goliath, Esther, John, Samson the list goes on. It's a letter from the creator himself for those of the Christian creed ofcourse. Apart from my crazy analogy it's a great love story, redemption & a guide on how to navigate life. Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist, I love this book. I love it's simple delivery of a puissant message. The book leaves you feeling rejuvenated & your faith resurrected. In the Alchemist, Paulo talks about a young mans journey, hopes, fears & aspirations involved in persuing his dreams, the trade-offs. You cannot help but empathize with Santiago, societal pressures, how we sacrifice our happiness & dreams for what's socially acceptable. He broke down God the deity, demystified the recondite distance between God & humanity. He places God in your day to day paths, leaves you nostalgic about childhood innocence believing in butterfly whiffs & omens again. It's funny how he talks about literally every single essential aspect of life & yet the book isn't one of those thick volumes. The Shack by William .P. Young. An anecdote of a grieving father with a traumatic childhood who lost his daughter. The father has all the questions that everyone who has lost loved ones has, all the hard questions anyone alive ask in their heads & dare not say out loud. He then gets a note from God & they spend a weekend together on a resort of some sort. I know right meeting God, don't put it off it will wow you. What I loved about his encounter with God was that it was candid, both of them took their gloves off. A beautiful read, an eccentric glimpse of God. It takes away the liturgy that the church & society puts forward to shroud him, it introduces you to a completely different aspect of spirituality. One that leaves you looking at the stars differently. Steve Jobs: The biography. The book allows you to delve into the life of the iconic inventor, designer & entrepreneur. Jobs was a co-founder, chief executive & chairman of Apple Computers. It also introduces another Steve, Steve Wozniak who's was the man behind the code & most of alterations. It was Jobs vision that transformed the company from the garage to the first global company worth more than a trillion dollars. Jobs was a mercurial character & a very hard person to be around. The book shows how nothing is started from the top, they struggled & stuck to their beliefs & Jobs wouldn't relent on his ideals. That success isn't a destination but a process, at one point he was ousted from Apple computers & found himself unemployed. In that process he co-founded NeXT & Pixar, perused his passions. If you have ever used an Apple device you will attest to how it's nearly impossible to open it; yes Steve at your service. The last isn't a book, yes I'm cheating so what lol. You need to read Wilber Smith, born in Kabwe Zambia back then Northern Rhodesia is a British author. He writes historical fictional stories or are they of Southern Africa? His intimate knowledge of the region & articulation makes his books a must. The Elephant Song is one of my favorites, you need to look for it. Among readers there is always that " the book is better the film" notion. Yes it is indeed lol. You need to read J. K. Rowling, yes I'm a Harry Potter fan. The movies well were good but the books wow, they just throw in the mezzo of things like that. You definitely need to read her work.
